On November 25, 2025, the webinar “Transformative Experiences in Civic Education” took place as a free online event bringing together education professionals to reflect on the role of civic education as a tool for social transformation. The session featured inspiring practices and international perspectives, highlighting innovative approaches to fostering a more just, peaceful, and engaged citizenship.
Speakers include:
The speakers explored how transformative civic experiences can foster epistemic, personal, and communal change, emphasizing collaboration, democratic participation, and community engagement. Contributions included reflections on designing meaningful non-formal civic education experiences (Andrew Peterson and Juan Luis Fuentes), teen-centered approaches to civic thriving through innovative educational design (Fernande Raine and Susan Rivers), and inspiring practices from Brazil that highlighted the role of civic education in strengthening democratic culture and public policy (João Tavares). The session offered concrete frameworks, tools, and real-world examples to support educators in creating impactful civic learning experiences.
